About Michael Hinton

Upon graduating from college in 1994 I decided to try something different and moved to the burgeoning outpost of Central Oregon. Since that time I have put down roots and this area has become home. While much has changed since I arrived, I am proud as ever to live, work, and play in the high desert of Oregon.

I am a firm believer one must be actively engaged in the betterment of one’s community and industry. Specific to the real estate industry, I have served multiple terms as President of the Central Oregon chapter of the Oregon Association of Mortgage Professionals. I also am a long-term active member of the Central Oregon Association of Realtors having served on the Professional Standards and Ethics Committee.

For over 20 years I represented Deschutes County on the Board of Commissioners for Housing Works, the regional housing authority for Central Oregon. While on the Board I held various positions on the Executive Committee including several terms as Chairperson. During the time I served, Housing Works emerged as the premiere developer of affordable workforce housing in the Tri-County region.

My grandfather used to say, “You should buy real estate. The last time I checked they stopped making it.” To this day real estate continues to be a smart long-term investment. However, having experienced both up markets and down markets, one must be responsible and informed when buying. When I see past clients, first-time homebuyers, and seasoned investors alike, they consistently thank me for taking the time to educate them on the home-buying process, the costs involved and most importantly the loan programs that best fit their needs.
